Accreditation Standards

To safeguard the public through ensuring the governance of professional organisations and the professional competency of their members, the Accreditation Agent has defined a set of standards1 to be met by professional organisations on governance, operational effectiveness, standards for registrants, educational and training requirements, and management of the register. The Accreditation Agent will continue to review the standards with stakeholder consultation from time to time in accordance with relevant research and evidence as well as the development of the professions.

Healthcare professional organisations have to demonstrate their compliance with each of the above standards and the relevant criteria in order to be accredited. Accredited professional bodies who are fully accredited to maintain accredited registers for healthcare professions are also required to (1) undergo Mid-cycle Review by the Survey Team at the end of second year of accreditation; and (2) undergo Re-accreditation Surveys every four years in order to maintain/renew the accreditation.

Accreditation Standards

1 Upon the completion of the first accreditation cycle, the Accreditation Agent reviewed and revised the standards and criteria. The latest version of the Accreditation Standards was issued in August 2022.
